Properly Attach Your Dishwasher to Granite Countertops
Learning how to anchor a dishwasher to granite countertops can be a simple task that will prevent a dishwasher from tipping forward when opening. Although I’ve seen several ways to anchor a dishwasher to granite, I’ll discuss only a few common methods.
Best Way To Anchor a Dishwasher to Granite
The best way to anchor a dishwasher to granite, is to mechanically fasten it. However, I can think of at least three things that come to mind that drive the method of installing a dishwasher to granite.
Type of granite
Your fabricator
When the appliance gets installed
Your Budget
Type of Granite
Firstly, lets not think that all granite colors are considered equal in durability. A good rule of thumb is, the darker the stone the denser the stone, and the lighter the stone, the softer the stone. Some granite colors are light in color and have a lot of veining. This type of granite is typically considered fragile and comes apart easily. Drilling into this type of granite to accommodate a dishwasher, increases the liability that a crack will occur.
Anchoring a Dishwasher To Granite by Drilling Into The Bottom of The Granite
When I first got into the granite business, I explored several ways to anchor a dishwasher to granite. Early on I decided to drill into the bottom of the granite and glue a wooden dowel into the hole. While using this method, I started getting phone calls that customers were getting “Blow-Out” in the front section of the edge work. This means that the front of the granite can crack or chunk out. Although this can be repaired, it can be avoided by changing the installation method on how to anchor a dishwasher to granite.
Dishwasher to Granite Using Epoxy
Mounting a dishwasher to granite with epoxy is fast and affordable. It has also proven to be rather unreliable. When using epoxy to bond a dishwasher to a granite countertop, over time, dishwashers tend to come loose from the countertop. This happens when the bond between the dishwasher brackets and countertop separate.
As a positive, mounting a dishwasher with epoxy is easy, affordable and the things you need can be found at your local home improvement store.

I read bad information that has been written for the stone industry. It’s important to me that I help protect this industry from having an abundance of bad information and secondary products that damage the long term interests of the natural stone industry.
I’m actively involved as a business owner for two businesses.
Having been in the the industry for over 25 years, I founded Supreme Surface, Inc. in 1996, in Indianapolis, Indiana. We design and install beautiful granite countertops, kitchens, bathrooms, stone floors and other related products and services. Although I started things out working from my garage, we now have 2 showrooms and a fabrication center, and we currently design, produce and install between 10-15 custom granite kitchens every week. I would like to think that as a natural stone tile contractor and granite fabricator, Supreme Surface, Inc. is on the cutting edge of things.
A few years ago, Supreme Surface, Inc., started a kitchen renovation and bathroom remodeling division. This is a part of our business that designs functional kitchens and builds beautiful spa-like bathrooms. It is our signature to always install a beautiful stone shower in each and every bathroom we design and build. We got involved with this segment because it was a creative option for myself and other associates. It’s fun and exciting to help people bring their dreams to life, and I love it! Supreme Surface Cleaners, LLC
With the popularity of granite countertops growing at the speed of light, associates were asked daily, “How Do You Clean Granite Countertops”. And today, with the popularity of stone showers in these spa like bathrooms, we now get asked the question “How Do I Clean Stone Showers”.
So a couple of years ago, my wife and I were on a quest to find “The best granite cleaner. “ Honestly, my wife and I tried just about every pH balanced cleaner for granite countertops we could find. We had mixed results and seriously never found, any one product, that was a no rinse formula, streak free (even on black granite) that would clean, polish and protect granite against stains. At the same time, we wanted it to be made in America, environmentally safe and nontoxic.
We knew what we needed, but it just didn’t exist. For the most part we found products that could do some of these things, but not all in one bottle. With the vision of the product we were looking for, we kept on exploring different formulas to clean granite.
Supreme Surface® Brand Granite Cleaner
One day a customer walked into our Greenwood Design Studio. We met and talked about granite countertops and some related products and services. Of course by the end of the conversation, she asked me, “How do you clean granite countertops?” I told her our standard answer-—use a pH neutral cleaner. She started asking me more questions about cleaning granite and pH neutral cleaners. By the end of our conversation she asked me what cleaner I could recommend. I was honest and told her that I really couldn’t. Soon, though, she became a customer and we talked more. Interestingly enough, I discovered she was a chemist with an amazing background. She, in turn, introduced me to a formula and another chemist. In short order we developed a relationship, and what was most exciting, the granite cleaner we had always envisioned.
We now had a formula for our cleaner, as well as a great base of customers. It wasn’t long before we were passing out free samples of the granite cleaner to our customers and asking for feedback. We continued to do this for part of 2010 and 2011. All we wanted was feedback. Once we finalized our product, we developed a website and sent our free samples across the USA to everyone that wanted it… Yes, everyone! We even made a couple of videos and posted them onto Youtube. It wasn’t long before we shipped out thousands of free samples, and even paid the shipping. All this, just for their feedback on how we could improve our product! The result was overwhelming and people absolutely loved the product!
Today we have a fantastic formula that is unlike all other cleaners for granite countertops. We trademarked the name “Supreme Surface®” and decided to develop the name into a new brand. With lots of help and imagination from others, including Geoff Marko and BrandHouse, the Supreme Surface® brand was born.
Our granite cleaner is now sold across the web. We’ve just set up or third distributor in the Midwestern US, and we get calls and emails every week from large and small companies, looking to distribute our product. We continue to ship a growing number of orders around the USA on a daily basis.
Bottles of Supreme Surface Granite Cleaner and Conditioner ship across the country every day to other natural stone fabricators and suppliers.
Supreme Surface® Brand Granite Cleaner and Conditioner is a truly unique, 3-in-1 formula, because it will clean, polish and protect granite countertops. It’s non-toxic, biodegradable, and safe for food prep areas, humans and pets. It’s formula leaves the ultimate streak free shine, every time-—even on black granite. It won’t build up and doesn’t require a rinse. Your granite surfaces will look and feel incredible, like when they were new.
